Privatisation Programme 2008-2011 was developed by the Ministry of Treasury and adopted by the Council of Ministers in April 2008.

According to the Programme, over 800 state-owned companies operating in a range of market sectors will be sold to private investors. The Programme is estimated to bring approximately PLN 37 billion to the national budget out of the privatisation activities.

In the fall of 2009, the Ministry announced to accelerate the privatisation activities, with 54 key companies earmarked for privatisation by the end of 2010. The year 2010 is likely to see a record number of privatisation deals and the highest ever proceeds associated with the transactions.
